Breakfast in America
Breakfast in America is a whimsical dance film that celebrates curiosity and the magic of imagination. The story follows a 13-year-old girl whose ordinary routine is disrupted by mysterious notes that slide under her door—each containing playful challenges. What begins as frustration quickly transforms into fascination as she embraces each task with creativity, turning movements into a vibrant dance. Developed in full collaboration with the dancers, this piece began with creating a list of six movement tasks. From this, we built a phrase, then deconstructed and reimagined that phrase to shape the choreography. The result is a piece that reflects the spontaneity, playfulness, and deep exploration at the heart of the creative process. A celebration of movement, wonder, and the wild potential of a curious mind.
